News Tribune endorsements for Duluth School Board and Duluth City Council:
Duluth School Board
District 1 — Ann Wasson. DNT: “…Ann Wasson is an experienced, effective and well-educated School Board member whose focus is obvious and well-placed on doing what’s best for our children’s education.”
District 4 — Laura Condon. DNT: “Laura Condon … is an expert on school finances after serving for many years as a union representative for teachers.”
At-Large — Mary Cameron and Nancy Nilsen. DNT: “Mary Cameron … a role model to Duluth students, the embodiment of the importance of lifelong learning.” “Nancy Nilsen’s commitment to education extends far beyond all the talk of buildings in this election.”
Duluth City Council
District 2 — Patrick Boyle. DNT: “(Patrick Boyle) has a strong grasp of issues, a common-sense approach to problem-solving, and knows the importance of effective leadership.”
District 4 — Kerry Gauthier. DNT: “Kerry Gauthier knows the Fourth District. He has lived the past 17 years not far from Lincoln Park … He’s been an active, behind-the-scenes forced for the DFL for 36 years.”
At-Large — Jim Stauber and Dan Hartman. DNT: “A vote for Jim Stauber is a vote for the balance that’s critical for good governing.” “(Dan) Hartman is new energy, working to make it as easy as possible for businesses and industries to locate in Duluth and succeed.”
Meantime, the Duluth Federation of Teachers are supporting the School Board incumbents, Cameron, Nilsen, Wasson and Condon.
Vote Tuesday.
