The Grant For Duluth Campaign has requested an official recount of the ballots cast in the 4th District City Council race held on November 3 between Kerry Gauthier and Gordon Grant, the campaign announced today in a press release.
Gauthier defeated Grant by 153 votes, 1,932-1,779.
“Mr. Grant is simply exercizing his right to a recount,” Gauthier said in a Facebook private message today. “I have the utmost confidence in the City Clerk’s office to handle this matter as the outstanding professionals they are. I look forward to serving the people of the 4th District and the City of Duluth once the recount process is completed.”
“Congratulations to Kerry…and the best of luck as the new 4th District City Councilor,” Grant said the day after the election.
Gauthier said the same day, in a prepared statement: “I look forward to working hard on behalf of all the people of the Fourth District and the City of Duluth. We have much to do in continuing to repair our streets, provide for the public safety through our excellent police and fire departments, invest in our youth, and getting the job of getting jobs started. I will work hard to address the concerns of the residents of the Fourth District and look forward to meeting residents over the next two months before taking office.”
