Duluth Noon Optimists collecting outerwear for Bethany Crisis Nursery

November 11, 2009 by Howie · Leave a Comment

OptimistsWinter coats, hats, mittens and boots for children (sizes newborn to 6X) — in new or gently used condition — are being collected for Duluth’s Bethany Crisis Nursery. The Duluth Noon Optimist Club is sponsoring the clothing drive, which runs through the end of the month.

Donations can be dropped off at the Incline Station in Duluth through November 30, or call Jessica Poskozim, club president, at 393.6298 to arrange to have your items picked up.

“We decided to help the Bethany Crisis Nursery because they are serving kids and families that have been hit especially hard by today’s economic situation,” said Poskozim. “Giving a warm coat or a pair of boots that we no longer need, perhaps our kids have outgrown them, may seem like a small gesture, but it makes a world of difference to a child, helping them get through our cold Northland winters.”

The Bethany Crisis Nursery in Morgan Park offers short-term, safe care for children from infancy through 12 years of age. The confidential service is provided for families who are experiencing significant levels of stress which may lead to the abuse or neglect of their child.

The Duluth Noon Optimist Club, a chapter of Optimist International, brings out the best in kids through a variety of positive community service projects. The Duluth Chapter has been helping local children and kid-focused organizations for 62 years.

The Club meets every Tuesday at noon at the Spot restaurant inside the Incline Station. Visitors and new members are always welcome.
