Duluth East bantams blast White Bear Lake 8-0

Meirs Moore (pictured) and Alex Toscano each scored twice and Caden Flaherty made 19 saves to lift Duluth East past White Bear Lake 8-0 in a Tommy Williams Invitational Bantam A first round game Friday at Heritage Arena.
Jack Forbort, Tyler Sworsky and Meirs scored first period goals, and the young Greyhounds were in total command throughout. Toscano scored his two goals in the second period as Duluth East took a 5-0 lead, and Andrew Kerr, Ryan Lundren and Moore scored in the third.
“The three goals early took the wind out of their sails,” Duluth East coach Steve Pitoscia said of the rout. “I felt Jack Forbort, Tyler Sworsky and, of course, Toscano, were our three top forwards. It’s tough to be critical of a goalie who posts a shutout, but I felt Caden had some mental lapses such as stopping the puck behind his net which gives us something to work on into the future. But overall, our defensive game was solid. Our games on Saturday should be better games.”
Duluth East (7-3) faces Eden Prairie at 9 p.m. Saturday at Fryberger Arena and Wayzata at 5:30 p.m. at Heritage Arena. Tourney semifinal and final games will be played Sunday at both Heritage and Fryberger.
