The Bulldogs fell to Nebraska-Kearney 77-71 in college men’s basketball Friday afternoon at the Minnesota State Pepsi Tip Off in Mankato.
UMD trailed by six at the half and fell behind by as many 10 before rallying back to take a 65-63 lead with 4:16 to play. The game was tied at 71 with 1:24 remaining, but the Bulldogs went cold in the clutch, missing their last three shots.
“It was a game we could’ve had and we let it get away,” said Bulldogs head coach Gary Holquist. “We had open looks and just didn’t knock them down.”
Ron White led UMD with 15 points, nine rebounds and three assists in 35 minutes. Rhett McDonald (right) added 14 points, shooting 4-6 from beyond the arc. Ryan Rasmussen shot 1-13 from the field, including three misses in the last two minutes.
Max Froelich tallied 24 points to pace the Lopers. He shot 11-12 from the line and hit all six of his free throws in the game’s final minute.
