Bridgeman’s celebrates new Fitger’s location with free ice cream

Whether your favorite Bridgeman’s ice cream flavor is Raspberry Fudge Torte, Butter Brickle or a classic like Peppermint Bon Bon, you’ll be able to enjoy your choice free on Monday.

Bridgeman’s On The Lakewalk will be serving free ice cream cones from 4-6 p.m. Monday to celebrate their Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting Ceremony. They are located in the courtyard of the historic Fitger’s Complex overlooking Lake Superior.

Bridgeman’s has been serving premium ice cream in the Duluth area since 1936, and is delighted to now have a new location on the Lakewalk. Bridgeman’s On The Lakewalk opened its doors for business on May 12, serving ice cream and yogurt cones, specialty sundaes and old-fashioned malts. Their menu includes mouth-watering favorites such as the Turtle, Hot Fudge Marble, and Raspberry Fudge Torte Sundaes, as well as tasty new additions like the Lakewalk Walkaway Sundae served in a waffle bowl. They also have refreshing beverages like strawberry sodas and root beer floats, and snack items such as hot dogs and nachos.

Bridgemans LogoDuluthian Jay Broman, who owns and operates Bridgeman’s Restaurant next to the Miller Hill Mall, is looking forward to offering Bridgeman’s ice cream to the downtown community.

“We have a very large and loyal customer base,” said Broman. “Everyone recognizes the Bridgeman’s name and enjoys the old-fashioned taste and quality.”

Broman said he also notices how many Duluth visitors, as well as residents, make Bridgeman’s a priority stop.

“It’s remarkable how many people have a memory of either working at a Bridgeman’s or visiting one as a child,” he said. “People love coming back to reminisce over the tastes and memories they’ve shared with Bridgeman’s for over 70 years.”

Combining the nostalgia of Bridgeman’s and Fitger’s is a natural idea according to all involved.

Tami Tanski Sherman, Fitger’s Mall Manager, shares the scoop, “We are very excited to have Bridgeman’s join our family at Fitger’s. It’s a perfect fit with access to the Lakewalk and we look forward to a long ‘cool’ relationship!”

Bridgeman’s Ice Cream is also happy about the new location.

“Bridgeman’s first started 125 years ago in Duluth,” said Pat Janisch, Director of Operations for Bridgeman’s Ice Cream. “We are very proud of the newest Bridgeman’s location opening on the Lakewalk. We are excited to see the Bridgeman’s tradition of high quality ice cream continue in Duluth.”

Bridgeman’s On The Lakewalk is located in the Fitger’s courtyard at 600 East Superior Street in Duluth. (Look for the Fitger’s smoke stack!) Their summer hours are 11 a.m.- 10 p.m. (11 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays).
