Northland’s NewsCenter news anchor Michelle Lee finished second in the Tall Open Division and third in the Master’s Division at the Northern States Natural Classic Body Building competition in Elk River over the weekend.
“When I walked on the stage the announcer said, ‘This is 56 reasons why you need to exercise, folks,’” said Lee, 56. “I measure my success by having the courage to go on stage. This was my third show, and my goal it to do one show every year until I’m 60. My husband is my personal trainer.”
North American National Body Building Federation state director Aaron Callister said he has clearly seen Lee’s dedication to training pay off over the years.
“Every year she gets a little leaner, her symmetry gets better, she gets a little bit harder and her stage presence gets a little better,” he said.
Lee said she has lost 58 pounds since she started working out and watching her diet.
“I’ve been able to keep my weight loss through a balance of exercise and eating six small meals a day,” she said. “For me, it’s walking and weightlifting, which is essential for a woman my age, and a balance of complex carbohydrates, clean protein and lots of water.”
