WITC graduates continue to experience success

Nationally top-ranked college WITC continues to show impressive results with the 2015-2016 Graduate Survey Results.

Of the 1,361 graduates included in the study, responses were obtained from 1,142 individuals who completed credentials in associate degrees and technical diplomas at WITC.

The results reveal an impressive record of accomplishment. Highlights from the survey are as follows:

· 93 percent of graduates are employed within six months of graduating

· 74 percent of graduates are employed in a job related to their WITC training

· Graduates employed in a job related to their training are earning an average yearly salary of $37,829

· 97 percent of graduates are satisfied or very satisfied with their WITC education

· 97 percent of graduates would recommend WITC to a friend or family member

· 75 percent of graduates that are working in jobs related to their WITC training are employed in Wisconsin

The median employment rate and annual salary varied by credential type:

· Two-year technical diploma graduates earned an average of $3,801 per month and had an 81 percent employment rate

· Associate degree graduates earned an average of $3,445 per month and had an 80 percent employment rate

· One-year technical diploma graduates earned an average of $2,741 per month and had a 75 percent employment rate

· Short-term technical graduates earned an average of $2,846 per month and had a 68 percent employment rate

DTA adds late-night Saturday service, implements schedule changes

The Duluth Transit Authority will implement operational schedule changes to Routes 2, 6 and 10. These changes go into effect on Sunday, June 4. There will be a few minor schedule time adjustments along with added late-night trips on Saturdays. Details for the latter are listed below:

. The Saturday schedule for Route 2 will add 11:20 p.m. and 12:20 a.m. trips “From Downtown” and 12:07 and 1:07 a.m. trips “To Downtown.”

. The Saturday schedule for Route 6 will add a 10:30 p.m. trip “From Downtown” and a 10:55 a.m. trip “To Downtown.”

. The Saturday schedule for Route 10 will add an 11:10 a.m. trip “From Downtown” and 10:50 p.m. and 11:50 p.m. trips “To Downtown.”

In addition to the changes listed above, the DTA will begin the summer Port Town Trolley service on Sunday June 4 in Canal Park, Bayfront and downtown Duluth. Several changes to the Port Town Trolley service will be implemented this year. These changes include:

. There will now be service past Fitger’s to 10th Avenue East.

. Two trolley buses will operate at the same time until 7:00 p.m.

. Service will now operate from 11:30 a.m. to 11:00 p.m.

. Service will be every 20 minutes until 7 p.m. and then 30 minutes until 11:00 p.m.

The Hermantown Royals moved into sole possession of first-place in the Quad City Little League majors division with an impressive 10-6 road victory over the previously-unbeaten Western Yankees on Thursday night at John Baggs Memorial Little League Field 2 located behind Wade Stadium in West Duluth.

The Royals improved to 3-0, while the Yankees fell to 3-1.
