The University of Wisconsin-Superior has named Nicole Stodola as the recipient of the Chancellor’s Leadership Award. This award is given to a member of the graduating class who is committed to personal growth and has made a positive contribution to their peers, campus and community.
A legal studies major with a minor in Spanish along with paralegal and ethical leadership certificates, Stodola has been successful in a wide variety of academic, professional and personal settings. An active member of the campus community, she has been involved with Mock Trial, where she helped orient new team members to be successful, grow skills and enjoy the team.
Stodola was also part of the Pre-Law Society where she served as president from 2016-17 and the Political Science Student Association and the Student Government Association where she served as a senator. Stodola was also able to provide her perspective and advice for the legal studies and criminal justice program where she helped to pioneer the first mentoring program.
In the Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning, she served as a student assistant before being promoted to administrative office assistant. During her time with the center, she has assisted with numerous programming, events and unit work. There she was able to use her considerable creative skills on design and marketing aspects for the unit.
Her involvement extends beyond UW-Superior. Stodola has served the community through her coaching work with the Superior basketball program helping to maintain health and wellness with youth in the region.
Stodola plans on continuing her job in UW-Superior’s Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning before continuing her education at law or graduate school where she would like to study environmental law or sustainability.
Stodola, a Superior, Wis. resident, will graduate with summa cum laude honors at UW-Superior’s commencement on Saturday, May 20, at 2 p.m. at Siinto S. Wessman Arena on the UW-Superior campus. Siinto S. Wessman Arena is located at 2701 Catlin Ave. in Superior.
