Western Duluth Little League rosters are mostly set for the 2017 season, league president Ian Lewandowski said Monday night.

“Coaches are starting to reach out to their players to schedule preseason practices, as we begin to prepare for the coming season,” said Lewandowski, who begins his third year guiding the 20-team West Duluth circuit, which operates at the two, beautiful John Baggs Little League Fields located behind historic Wade Stadium. “We’re hoping for a mild April to get out on the fields early.”

Western Duluth Little League will field teams in bantam (14-15 year-olds), intermediate (13), majors (11-12), minors (10), rookie (8-9) and intro (5-7) divisions again this summer. All teams will begin regular-season play in early May.

Western Duluth Little League major, minor and intro teams will compete in the Quad Cities League against teams from Hermantown, Proctor, Esko, Cloquet, Carlton, Barnum and Moose Lake.

Western Duluth Little League will host the 2017 Roger Peterson Tournament — for 13U, 12U, 11U and 10U-level teams — on June 2-4 at John Baggs.

The annual Western Duluth Little League 9U Tournament is scheduled for August 4-6 at John Baggs.
