    DULUTH PUBLIC SCHOOLS NEWS


    Members of ISD709's Automotive Technology SkillsUSA team did well in the 2012 state competition in Minneapolis. Duluth East's Travis McClarey placed second in Auto Service Technology, earning three scholarships totaling $24,500 and $500 in tools and safety equipment along with a silver medal. Travis also placed third in Tools and Equipment Identification and earned a bronze medal. East's Kyle Carlson placed first and earned a gold medal in a 200 question Industrial Safety examination.

    With all the press about Mitt having perhaps bullied someone in high school, I started thinking about my own high school years. I was a “group bully”. Of course, we never thought of ourselves as bullies. Bullies were guys who would beat up on weaker guys, not a group of girls terrorizing other girls. We never hit anyone but I’m pretty sure we “bumped” into some girls pretty hard. And what was their crime? One girl liked someone that one of our group liked, and a couple of girls had the audacity to be smart. Some girls were shy, some were more boyish than us or heavier, or whatever.
