Candidate filings for mayor and six city council position open Tuesday, May 16 and close Tuesday, May 30.
The following seats will be on the ballot in 2023:

. Two City Councilors-at-Large
. City Councilor – First District (Precincts 1-7)
. City Councilor - Third District (Precincts 14-19)
. City Councilor - Fourth District (Precincts 21-27)
. City Councilor – Fifth District (Precincts 28-34)
If re-elected, Ramsay says his priorities won’t drift. He lists them plainly: reduce the impact of illegal drugs, maintain a healthy and effective workforce and deliver professional, responsive service across the county.
The campaign will now test whether voters see her as the experienced hand who can “fix what’s wrong” — or as part of the same governing class they are increasingly skeptical of. It is a seasoned politician reading the room and deciding the room needs her.
This may be the moment Klobuchar has been preparing for since she first entered public life — not to campaign, not to negotiate from the sidelines, but to run the place she has spent a lifetime studying.
Klobuchar’s greatest asset is also her sharpest test: total name recognition. She does not need to introduce herself. She does not need to prove seriousness. She does not need to build trust from scratch. That saves time, money, and risk.
The structure of the opening weekend leaves little room for gradual buildup. For Albany, it is a chance to reaffirm its position. For Minnesota and the rest of the field, it is an early test of whether preseason projections hold or begin to shift.
Tom Pohlad has continued to express a commitment to winning, but the roster construction has yet to reflect that urgency. The absence of a clear replacement for Pablo Lopez, combined with instability at shortstop and in the bullpen, suggests a team operating below the standard required to contend.
