DULUTH — Authorities recovered the body of a 34-year-old Duluth man from the St. Louis River early Saturday after an unoccupied vehicle was found near the center span of the Blatnik Bridge.
Law enforcement was called about 3:30 a.m. Sept. 5 to investigate the vehicle. A Minnesota State Patrol trooper arriving at the bridge spotted a body in the water below, according to the St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office.
St. Louis County sheriff’s deputies, Duluth firefighters, the U.S. Coast Guard and the St. Louis County Rescue Squad responded to the scene and recovered the body.
Authorities identified the victim as a 34-year-old Duluth man but did not immediately release his name.
The Sheriff’s Office did not disclose how the man entered the water or provide additional details about the circumstances surrounding his death.
The investigation remains ongoing.
