Due to a power outage this morning, water pressure in the upper Woodland and Kenwood neighborhoods dropped to low levels; as a result, the City of Duluth is issuing a boil water notice to residents in the upper Woodland and Kenwood neighborhoods. Residents in the defined geographical area affected by the outage are asked to boil all drinking water until further notice.
The affected area, shown on the included map, is described as follows: Woodland Avenue above E Anoka Street and Hastings Drive, to include Claymore Street up to Jean Duluth Road; and Howard Gnesen Road from Maryland Street to Norton Road, to include Norton Road, North Road, Middle Road, MacFarlane Road, Northridge Drive, Lindzie Road, and Maryland to Warren Avenue. Residents in this defined geographical area are affected by this boil water notice.
The City of Duluth is performing necessary tests to confirm the safety of the water for drinking in that area. Test results are expected Sunday afternoon. The City of Duluth will distribute further information regarding the results at that time. Drinking water should be boiled before consuming in the defined geographical area until further notice.
Bring all drinking/cooking water to a full, rolling boil, let it boil for one minute or longer, and let it cool before using, or use bottled water. Boiled or bottled water should be used for drinking, making ice, brushing teeth, and food preparation until further notice. Boiling kills bacteria and other organisms in water.
A safe alternative source includes bottled water. Tap water in the affected area can be used for all non-consumption reasons (i.e. showering/bathing, laundry, etc.).
