Hermantown twice took the lead, but Cloquet answered both times as the Lake Superior Conference girls soccer rivals played to a 2-2 tie Saturday.

Bryden Giesen put the Hawks in front in the 13th minute, converting a pass from Vienna Kolenda for the only assisted goal of the match.

Cloquet pulled even in the 31st minute when Julia Ruhnke scored, sending the teams into halftime tied 1-1.

Kaija Markovich restored Hermantown’s lead in the 51st minute. The advantage lasted 10 minutes before Aubrey Pavlatos scored the equalizer for Cloquet.

Neither team broke through again.

Hermantown split its goalkeeping duties between Ava DeTray and Isla Radzak. Each made four saves and allowed one goal. Cloquet goalkeeper Gabrielle Anderson finished with five saves.
