PROCTOR — Hermantown rushed for 235 yards at 10.7 yards per carry and scored seven touchdowns in a 50-8 Northeast Red victory over Proctor on Friday night at Terry Egerdahl Memorial Field.
The Hawks improved to 2-0 after scoring 35 points in the first half and finishing with 297 yards of offense on only 28 plays.
Hermantown led 15-6 after the first quarter and scored 20 unanswered points in the second to take a 35-6 halftime lead. The Hawks added 15 points in the third quarter.
Martin Sleen led Hermantown with 75 rushing yards and a touchdown on four carries, including a 42-yard run. Kalven Skur rushed for 70 yards on five carries, averaging 14 yards per attempt.
Sawyer Johnson rushed for 28 yards and a touchdown on three carries. Owen Simonson had 23 yards and a touchdown on four attempts, Bryson Eischen rushed for 22 yards and a score on three carries and Luke Nelson added 17 yards and a touchdown on three carries.
Hermantown scored five rushing touchdowns and one passing touchdown.
Quarterback Brock Hoglund completed all three of his passes for 55 yards and a touchdown. Vincent Bolf was 1-for-2 for 7 yards.
Ayden Maki caught a 15-yard touchdown pass. Simonson had a 22-yard reception, Sleen caught an 18-yard pass and Skur added a 7-yard reception.
Hermantown completed 4 of 5 passes for 62 yards and did not throw an interception.
The Hawks finished with 15 first downs and did not punt.
Proctor was limited to 106 total yards, all on the ground. The Rails completed none of four passes and threw one interception.
Gavin Roth led Proctor with 75 yards and a touchdown on 10 carries, including a 59-yard run. Dallas Connlley rushed for 31 yards on five carries and Jake Jauhola had 24 yards on six attempts.
Hermantown held Proctor to seven first downs and 0-for-9 on third-down conversions. The Rails converted 2 of 3 fourth-down attempts.
Proctor ran 41 offensive plays but averaged just 2.6 yards per play. Hermantown averaged 10.6 yards per play.
The Hawks have scored 98 points in their first two games after defeating Duluth Denfeld 48-13 in the season opener.
Hermantown will play its home opener against Duluth East at 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 18.
