Hawks softball coach Michelle Sweeney on her team: "We had a big win against Big Lake on Saturday. I feel like we have had several players playing well. Avery Beranek (P/3B), Bryden Giesen (SS) and Violet Kalm (1B) have all been hitting the ball and playing good defense. Abby Noldin has also given us some good innings in the circle. We start playoffs today (Tuesday) against Grand Rapids. It has been a fun season. This is a great group of young women who give it their best every game. If we play our game, we have a good chance of winning the section tournament."

Tim Meyer: Minnesota Monsters bring big-time football to Duluth

The name Minnesota Monsters reflects an opportunity to attract fans from across northern Minnesota rather than solely from Duluth. If the organization continues to build on its current foundation, the franchise could become a long-term community and economic asset for the Twin Ports region.
