DULUTH-SUPERIOR — ImOn Communications has begun providing fiber internet service in Duluth and Superior, connecting its first customers as the company continues construction of a new broadband network across the Twin Ports.
The Cedar Rapids, Iowa-based company said Wednesday that its fiber network is now available to more than 1,000 addresses in the two cities.
ImOn began construction in Duluth and Superior in June. The network is being built in sections, with work underway in multiple areas simultaneously. Construction has been completed in the first service areas in both cities, allowing customer installations to begin.
The company is offering symmetrical internet speeds of up to 5 gigabits per second for residential customers and up to 10 gigabits for businesses.
Carter Nelson became ImOn’s first customer in Duluth and the company’s first customer in Minnesota. Terry Lillo was the first customer connected in Superior and ImOn’s first in Wisconsin.
“Carter and Terry are not only ImOn’s first customers in their communities—they are ImOn’s first customers in Minnesota and Wisconsin, respectively,” said Kirby Underberg, vice president and general manager of ImOn’s Great Lakes Region. “It was exciting for our team to personally welcome them to ImOn and mark an important milestone in our expansion into the Twin Ports.”
The company said additional installations are taking place daily in neighborhoods where construction has been completed. Fiber construction will continue in other sections of Duluth and Superior as the network expands.

ImOn’s entry into Duluth and Superior adds another broadband provider to the Twin Ports market as demand continues to grow for higher-capacity fiber connections for residential and commercial customers.
