DULUTH — Minnesota Secretary of State Steve Simon will visit Lake Superior College on Tuesday as the school holds a voter registration event tied to National Voter Registration Day and Constitution Day.
The Lake Superior College Student Senate will host the event from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. in the college’s main concourse. Simon is scheduled to attend from 2 to 3 p.m.
Students will be able to obtain voter registration information during the event. Free flags and doughnuts also will be available, according to the college.
Tuesday, Sept. 15, is National Voter Registration Day, an annual nonpartisan effort focused on helping eligible Americans register to vote or update their registrations. The national organization coordinating the observance has designated Sept. 15 as National Voter Registration Day in 2026.
Constitution Day will be observed Thursday, Sept. 17.
Simon is Minnesota’s 22nd secretary of state and has served in the office since January 2015. As secretary of state, he serves as Minnesota’s chief elections administrator. The office oversees administration of the state’s elections in partnership with local election officials.
Lake Superior College has received several national recognitions for student voter participation and civic engagement in recent elections.
The college earned a Silver Seal for voter participation in the 2020 general election after previously receiving a Gold Seal for the 2018 midterm election and a Bronze Seal for the 2016 general election.
LSC also was recognized as a Most Engaged Campus for College Student Voting in 2022. The college later received a Silver Seal for engagement in the 2022 midterm election and was named an ALL IN Most Engaged Campus for College Student Voting following the 2024 elections.
