Next Week in Cloquet Sports: Summer Work Continues Across Lumberjacks Programs

CLOQUET — Summer preparation continues at a brisk pace for Cloquet High School athletes next week as basketball, soccer, volleyball and hockey programs, along with the school's comprehensive strength and conditioning sessions, remain in full swing.

The week opens Monday with the Cloquet girls basketball team holding practice from 9:30-11 a.m. at Cloquet Middle School Gym 1 before hockey players report to the high school weight room for an afternoon strength session from 1-2 p.m. The boys basketball team wraps up Monday's schedule with practice from 5-6:30 p.m. at the middle school.

Tuesday features one of the busiest days of the summer schedule. Cloquet's summer weight lifting program runs from 8 a.m.-1 p.m., utilizing both Members Cooperative Credit Union Stadium and the high school weight room as Lumberjacks athletes from multiple sports continue their offseason conditioning.

The volleyball program is scheduled to practice from 8-11 a.m. at Cloquet Middle School Gym 1, while the girls soccer team takes the field at Members Cooperative Credit Union Stadium from 9-11 a.m. Hockey players return to the weight room for another afternoon lifting session from 1-2 p.m.

The boys basketball team is back on the court Tuesday evening from 5-6:30 p.m., while the boys soccer team closes out the day's activities with a three-hour practice from 5-8 p.m. at Members Cooperative Credit Union Stadium.

Summer workouts provide coaches valuable opportunities to develop individual skills, build team chemistry and establish the physical foundation for the upcoming 2026-27 school year. While participation is voluntary under Minnesota State High School League summer guidelines, the offseason sessions are an important part of preparing athletes for the fall and winter competitive seasons.
