River Freeman threw four scoreless and hitless innings, striking out seven, and belted a massive home run to lead Hermantown past Duluth Denfeld 8-1 in a Lake Superior Conference baseball game Thursday afternoon at Wade Stadium. Ethan McCubbin and Freeman had two hits each for the Hawks (3-0), who blitzed the Hunters 18-3 earlier this season.

Esko defeated visiting Proctor 7-3 in a LSC baseball game, after trailing 2-0 after one inning. Jamis Halverson had a three-run home run for Esko.
