The Duluth Preservation Alliance will award 12 property owners for preserving and maintaining their historic homes, buildings, and structures at the 2025 Preservation Awards and Centennial Home Celebration on Monday, May 19, at the West Theatre in Duluth.

The annual awards ceremony was established over four decades ago to highlight the hard work and passion people put into their properties in order to preserve its historical character. This year, eight properties will receive Centennial Awards and four property owners will receive preservation awards for their restoration projects.

“The Duluth Preservation Alliance takes a lot of pride in recognizing those whose dedication to preservation is unwavering,” said DPA President Blake Romenesko. “Preservation is not easy, and an award like this is a symbolic gesture for their efforts. That said, anyone who has uncovered an old pocket door, stripped paint off of wooden beams and crown moldings or painstakingly refinished old windows or repaired plastered walls, knows that the true reward comes from a connection to those artisans and craftsmen of our past. We extend our sincere gratitude and congratulations to all of our award recipients this year and look forward to continuing to work together, as a community, to protect and celebrate the historic treasures of Duluth."

The West Theatre is located at 319 North Central Avenue in West Duluth. Doors will open at 5 p.m. and a reception with refreshments will follow the ceremony. This is a free event, open to the public.

Here’s a bottom-line truth fans remember: passengers ride. Bulldogs drive. And right now, this train’s stalled. The team, the fans, the entire program — everyone deserves better. Time to stop watching VHS tapes of 2019. Time to earn the sweater again.
