Two arrested following fight at Super One store in West Duluth

Police said preliminary information shows the 15-year-old stole an item and left the store with the older man, identified as Brent Edwards. When the loss-prevention officer attempted to confront them, a physical struggle broke out.

DULUTH, Minn. — A 22-year-old man was jailed and a 15-year-old boy was cited after a physical altercation Monday evening at the Super One store on Bristol Street, according to Duluth police.

Officers responded around 6 p.m. to a report of a fight at the store. When they arrived, the fight had ended and a loss-prevention officer had detained two individuals.

Police said preliminary information shows the 15-year-old stole an item and left the store with the older man, identified as Brent Edwards. When the loss-prevention officer attempted to confront them, a physical struggle broke out.

During the altercation, Edwards allegedly threatened the officer with a bat, prompting the officer to deploy a chemical irritant, police said. Minor injuries were reported.

Edwards was booked into the St. Louis County Jail on suspicion of second-degree assault. The 15-year-old was cited for shoplifting and fifth-degree assault.
