SPRING LAKE PARK, Minn. — Seventh-seeded Duluth East delivered one of the biggest upsets of the Minnesota girls high school soccer state tournament Wednesday evening, defeating second-seeded Wayzata 3-0 in a Class 3A quarterfinal at Spring Lake Park High School.
Lilli Kuettel scored twice for the Greyhounds to power past one of the tournament favorites and advance to the state semifinals at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis.

Kuettel opened the scoring just 5 minutes, 47 seconds into the match, giving Duluth East a 1-0 advantage that held through halftime. The Greyhounds maintained their lead against a Wayzata team that had defeated them 3-0 during the regular season Sept. 5.

Kuettel struck again at the 67:43 mark, extending the lead to 2-0 and putting the Trojans in a difficult position with just over 12 minutes remaining.

Hadley Friday completed the scoring at 79:52, converting a goal assisted by Darby Friday to secure the shutout victory.

The Greyhounds advance to face the winner of Thursday's quarterfinal between third-seeded Eagan and sixth-seeded Minnetonka. The semifinal is scheduled for 10 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 5, at U.S. Bank Stadium.
The Class 3A championship game is scheduled for 8 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 7, also at U.S. Bank Stadium.
