Silence is the danger here. Duluth is a city where speaking the truth gets you branded an alarmist. Shut up, smile and nod along while your neighbors drown. That’s how the people in power like it. Just the steady rhythm of their Friday checks clearing while the walls cave in around everyone else.
Hubert Humphrey wouldn’t mince words. He’d say: Don’t forget them. Don’t forget the little guy. Don’t forget the people who don’t have lobbyists, who don’t have PACs, who don’t write $5,000 checks at fundraisers. Don’t forget the seniors who built our towns and now count pills at the kitchen table.
His stat line towered over the league: a .383 batting average, 17 home runs, 68 RBIs, 23 doubles, three triples, 48 runs scored, 28 walks, and 15 stolen bases over 52 games. His OPS landed at 1.252, powered by a .471 on-base percentage and a .781 slugging percentage.
Reagan Reeder had three hits and scored three runs for Duluth. Kingsley Guthrie had a double and drove in a run, and Jake Downing had two hits, an RBI and a stolen base.
