The DECC and the City of Duluth will host Fourth Fest on Tuesday, July 4 at Bayfront Festival Park in Downtown Duluth. Event highlights include the largest fireworks show in the Upper Midwest with Americana-inspired Midwest music.

Gates open at 4 p.m., music starts at 5 p.m. and the fireworks is scheduled to begin at 10 p.m.
At a time when the city was searching for ways to reinvent itself beyond shipping and snow, Kern dared to see Duluth as a destination. The airshow he created has now become a staple of the summer tourism calendar, injecting millions into the local economy year after year.
As in previous years, the event will again benefit local nonprofit organizations. This year, the Valley Youth Center has been selected as the primary beneficiary, with a portion of the proceeds supporting its youth development work.
Truth is, nobody does this kind of whimsical civic experience quite like the DECC. Remember their other big swings? The glitzy Bentleyville Christmas village that practically owns our lakefront each winter. The rollicking Oktoberfest.
The events are truly a Duluth-style night out. Where else can you watch the sun set over Lake Superior, see the Lift Bridge rise, and hear great music from the deck of a 1930s freighter?

Negotiations continue at Solvay Hospice House and Essentia Health Surgery Center-Miller Hill in Duluth. Two bargaining sessions were held this week, with additional meetings scheduled for Sept. 8 at Solvay and Sept. 10 at the Surgery Center.
Minnesota’s defense dominated from the outset, holding Buffalo to just 151 total yards and limiting the Bulls to 1 of 11 on third down. The Gophers forced six three-and-outs and kept Buffalo’s rushing attack under 40 yards.
