The City of Duluth has issued a boil water advisory for parts of the Congdon Park neighborhood after a hydrant replacement caused an unintentional drainage in the water distribution system.
Precautionary testing from hydrants following the reactivation of the system showed potential concerns, prompting further flushing, maintenance and testing, city officials said.
The affected area includes the 3300 to 3800 blocks of Greysolon Road, Greysolon Place, East Superior Street and 36th Avenue East from London Road to Superior Street.
Residents in the defined area are advised to boil all water intended for drinking, cooking, brushing teeth, making ice and food preparation until further notice. Water should be brought to a rolling boil for at least one minute and cooled before use, or residents should use bottled water.
Tap water remains safe for non-consumption uses such as bathing, showering and laundry, officials said.
The city expects test results over the weekend and will share updates when available.
