City of Duluth provides snow plow operations update

City of Duluth

By Kelli Latuska, City of Duluth Public Information Officer

City of Duluth Street Maintenance crews continue to remove snow and ice from city roadways this evening following last night/this morning’s snowfall event.

As of this afternoon, crews had completed clearing Priority 1 roadways and approximately 80 percent of the city’s Priority 2 roadways. Priority 3 roadways and alleys are partially completed. Crew shifts will end this evening around 6 p.m., and plow operations will resume again at 2 a.m. Monday after a well-deserved rest.

The National Weather Service is forecasting a chance of possible snow overnight into Monday morning. Per the City’s snow and ice policy, crews will shift back to Priority 1 roadways if snow accumulates overnight. For information on our snow and ice policy and how roads are prioritized, please visit https://duluthmn.gov/snow/. Thanks to our street maintenance staff for their hard work through this and all snow events.

Alternate side parking is odd-side parking this week. Vehicles parked on alternate side parking streets must move to the odd side of the street between 4 p.m. and 8 p.m. this evening. City of Duluth staff are actively enforcing alternate side parking rules. Illegally parked vehicles may be ticketed and/or towed at the vehicle owner’s expense.

The City would also like to remind residents and businesses to lend a helping hand to their neighbors in need as they remove snow from their sidewalks. Safe sidewalk access is crucial to pedestrians, folks pushing strollers, and people using wheelchairs and mobility devices as they move about to errands, appointments, and the like. Removal of sidewalk snow within 24 hours of a snow event’s end helps our residents maintain safe mobility. For snow shoveling info, please visit https://duluthmn.gov/snow/snow-shoveling/information/.

As always, the City thanks residents for their patience and understanding as crews work to maintain roadways during and after snow events. Please stay safe while traveling.
