Hermantown defeated Denfeld 7-2 in a 7AAA quarterfinal high school baseball game at Fichtner Field on Thursday night. The Hawks will host Grand Rapids in a semifinal Saturday.

Holdyn Evjen, Colten Danelski, Peyton Menzel and Izy Farchild of Hermantown qualified for the AA Minnesota State High School State Golf Tournament on June 13-14 at the Ridges at Sand Creek in Jordan. They qualified Thursday at section golf tournament Giants Ridge Golf Course. The boys team placed second.

The Monsters are Duluth’s newest professional arena football team and will compete in Arena One Football this season. The team will play home games at Amsoil Arena. Arena football is played indoors on a shortened, 50-yard field.
