Homicide suspect arrested after pursuit in Duluth

DULUTH, Minn. (HH) — A homicide suspect wanted in Ramsey County was arrested Saturday after a pursuit that began in the Lakeside neighborhood and ended north of the city.

At about 8:30 a.m. Jan. 10, the St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office received information that a homicide suspect may have been driving a stolen vehicle and heading toward an address in Lake County along the North Shore of Lake Superior.

About 9 a.m., a St. Louis County deputy saw the vehicle in the Lakeside area and attempted a traffic stop. The driver fled north on North Shore Drive for several miles before crashing near Homestead Road.

The suspect tried to run but was taken into custody a short distance later by members of the St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office, Duluth Police Department and Minnesota State Patrol.

A St. Louis County deputy was treated and released from a local hospital for minor injuries sustained in a collision between the suspect’s vehicle and a marked patrol car, authorities said.

No further information will be released at this time. Custody of the suspect was transferred to investigators with the St. Anthony Police Department in Ramsey County.
