Hermantown went 1-1 in a pair of Delano boys basketball holiday tournament games last week, losing to Delano 85-61 before blitzing Monticello 80-63. The Hawks (5-5), who are led by 6-foot-5 senior power forward Abe Soumis, will visit Rock Ridge at 7:15 p.m. Friday and face Becker in Lake Superior Classic game at 5 p.m. Saturday at Duluth East Gym.

Hermantown will again be a heavy favorite against Proctor when the traditional Lake Superior Conference high school boys hockey rivals meet Tuesday night in Proctor.

The Class 1A/ No. 1-ranked Hawks are 6-2-2 overall and coming off a 4-0 loss at Class 2A/No. 9 Shakopee last Friday night. The Rails (9-4-0) have played an embarrassingly weak schedule again this season.

Hermantown's elite players are junior forward River Freeman, sophomore forward-defenseman AJ Francisco and senior goaltender Dane Callaway.
