Sports Notebook: Eskomos outlast Hunters

Esko defeated Denfeld 19-7 in a nonconference high school softball game Monday afternoon at Dick Swanson Fields in West Duluth. The Eskomos improved to 5-2 overall, and the Hunters fell to 0-2. Both teams are in action again Tuesday, with Esko hosting Rock Ridge at 1 p.m. and Denfeld facing Cloquet at 4:30 p.m.

. Maverick Midthun won the Notah Begay III Arizona Regional junior golf tournament in the 12-13 year-old division last weekend. Cory Thiesse of Duluth and Korey Dropkin of Southborough, Mass., did something Sunday no American mixed doubles curling team had managed since the event joined the Olympic program in 2018.
