The Minnesota Star Tribune is teaming up with the organizers of Baseball Day Minnesota to support the state’s premier midseason event for high school baseball players on May 17 in Waconia.

Additionally, Minnesota Star Tribune readers will see expanded coverage of high school baseball, delivered in partnership with Prep Baseball Minnesota, a nationally respected source covering recruiting, top players and teams, events and more.

As the Midwest’s largest news organization, the Minnesota Star Tribune is extending its commitment to covering Minnesota high school student-athletes and their journeys. The recruiting process is central to that journey for many athletes in our state, and Prep Baseball Minnesota is the statewide authority on baseball recruiting.

Additionally, the Minnesota Star Tribune is looking to partner with high school sports event organizers, and the mission of the upcoming Baseball Day Minnesota is a great match.

“We’re not sure whether we’re more excited about being a sponsor of Baseball Day Minnesota or becoming a coverage partner with the Prep Baseball crew,” said Chris Carr, the Minnesota Star Tribune’s high school sports franchise director. “I’ll think about that more while eating a hot dog out at Lions Field in Waconia later this month. We’re also excited for our readers and subscribers. High school baseball in our state is on a hot streak, and it’s our pleasure to step up our coverage this spring and beyond.”

“We at Prep Baseball are thrilled to partner with the Minnesota Star Tribune and look forward to contributing to the coverage and promotion of high school baseball across our state. We are especially excited about the media company’s support of Baseball Day Minnesota and its commitment to shining a brighter light on our sport — highlighting the teams, players, coaches, high schools and communities that make it special,” said Andy Judkins, Prep Baseball Minnesota’s state director. “Our mission is to spotlight players and programs throughout Minnesota, and working alongside the state’s leading news outlet will significantly enhance our ability to do just that. I personally look forward to collaborating with Chris and the talented team of writers at the Minnesota Star Tribune, and I’m excited to see how this partnership will help elevate high school baseball throughout Minnesota.”
