Monsters return home seeking season sweep of Arsenal

DULUTH, Minn. — The Minnesota Monsters return to Amsoil Arena on Monday night looking to strengthen their Arena Football One playoff position when they host the surging Michigan Arsenal in a key late-season matchup.

Minnesota enters the game at 5-3 and coming off a 48-32 road loss to the Nashville Kats on Saturday. Michigan arrives in Duluth with a 3-6 record and perhaps the league's hottest momentum after stunning previously unbeaten Albany 57-39 on Friday night, ending the Firebirds' 20-game winning streak.

The teams have met twice this season, with visiting Minnesota winning both contests. The Monsters opened the series with a 45-25 victory on April 25 before edging the Arsenal 31-28 in overtime on May 9.

Minnesota's offense features former University of Minnesota running back Shannon Brooks, who has established himself as one of AF1's top rushing threats, along with veteran defensive lineman-fullback Claude Davis.

Michigan counters with quarterback Malik Henry, who has developed into one of the league's most explosive offensive weapons. Henry was at his best Friday night against Albany, throwing for 259 yards and five touchdowns as the Arsenal handed the defending champions their first loss since July 2024.

The newspaper industry has spent so much time discussing declining circulation, shrinking advertising revenue, rising production costs and digital disruption that it has largely avoided confronting a far more uncomfortable reality.
