AF1 Notebook: Nashville blitzes Minnesota

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. — Tyler Kulka threw four touchdown passes Saturday night as the Nashville Kats defeated the Minnesota Monsters 48-21 in an Arena Football One game at F&M Bank Arena.

Kulka completed 21 of 30 passes for 234 yards as Nashville improved to 7-1. The Kats also won the turnover battle, intercepting Minnesota quarterback Ja'Vonte Johnson twice.

Minnesota entered the game looking to strengthen its playoff position but struggled offensively. Johnson completed only 14 of 38 passes for 155 yards and three touchdowns while throwing two interceptions. The Monsters finished with 157 yards of total offense.

Minnesota (5-3) will host Michigan (3-6) on Monday night at Amsoil Arena in Duluth.

AF1 Reports Growth in June Marketing Metrics, Audience Reach

Arena Football One continues to expand its digital footprint and fan engagement, according to league marketing data released Monday.

AF1 generated 2.03 million impressions across all marketing channels during the first half of June, representing a 6.5 percent increase compared to the first two weeks of May. The league also recorded 34,620 interactions across its digital platforms, an increase of 13 percent over the same comparison period.

The growth comes as AF1 enters the stretch run of its 2026 season, with league officials citing increased fan engagement across social media, video content and other digital channels.

"I think my favorite stat in the last 28 days is that our YouTube channel had 41k views, with 63% of them coming from new fans, classified by never before watching our channel," said Jared DeGroff, AF1's Vice President of Marketing and Communications. "This shows me that AF1 is interesting, entertaining and a product deserving to be watched, shared and enjoyed both in person and online."

The league has emphasized digital audience development since its launch, using social media, streaming content and video highlights to build awareness in existing and emerging markets. The latest numbers suggest AF1 is continuing to attract new viewers while increasing engagement among its existing fan base.

League officials view the growth as an encouraging sign as AF1 prepares for the final weeks of the regular season and its upcoming postseason schedule.

Opinion: Why Duluth needs the News Tribune

I have long believed that communities are only as strong as their local newspaper. Today, I would expand that thought slightly: communities are only as strong as their commitment to local journalism. The future of the Duluth News Tribune matters because the future of local journalism matters.
