Peter Niss died November 13, 2025 at his home in Mt. Royal Manor Apartments in Duluth. He was born in Minneapolis on October 19, 1946, and grew up in Duluth and at Timber Bay Lodge on Birch Lake near Ely. After attending Duluth East High School and Lawrence University in Appleton, Wisconsin, he moved to San Francisco before returning to Minnesota, where he worked for his father at Sunset Antiques and at Timber Bay; both jobs which he loved dearly and at which he was very good. He was always looking for ways to engage with and to help others, so he will be sorely missed. Pete is survived by his younger brothers, David of Helena, Montana, and Bruce of Portland, Oregon. A memorial service will be held at Pilgrim Congregational Church on December 11, 2025.
