AF1 revises remaining schedule after Oregon franchise folds

ALBANY, N.Y. — Arena Football One announced a series of schedule changes Tuesday following the termination of the Oregon Lightning franchise, adjusting several games over the final weeks of the 2026 regular season.

League officials said the revisions were designed to maintain competitive balance and minimize disruption for the remaining clubs.

The Kentucky Barrels' previously awarded forfeit victory resulting from Oregon's cancellation will remain official.

Under the revised schedule, Kentucky will travel to face the Washington Wolfpack on June 20 at 9 p.m. EDT.

A Week 12 game between the Kentucky Barrels and the Albany Firebirds has been canceled, creating a bye week for both teams.

In Week 13, Albany will travel to face the Beaumont Renegades on July 5 at 6 p.m. EDT.

The Michigan Arsenal also received a schedule adjustment and will travel to play the Oceanside Bombers on July 10 at 10 p.m. EDT.

In a statement, the league said the changes were made after officials reviewed scheduling options following Oregon's departure and determined the revised format offered the best path to completing the regular season.

Arena Football One said fans holding tickets for affected games will be contacted by their respective teams regarding available options. The league said all remaining games will continue to be carried by its broadcast partners.

The Oregon Lightning ceased operations earlier this month, forcing AF1 officials to restructure portions of the league schedule during the final stretch of the regular season.

The newspaper industry has spent so much time discussing declining circulation, shrinking advertising revenue, rising production costs and digital disruption that it has largely avoided confronting a far more uncomfortable reality. The greatest threat facing many newspapers today is not the internet, social media, artificial intelligence or even changing reader
