Bulldogs clips Saints in men's hoops at Romano

The Bulldogs return to action Friday when they open the American Family Insurance Classic against No. 13 Michigan Tech

Minnesota Duluth pushed its early-season record to 3-0 on Tuesday night, rolling past crosstown St. Scholastica 89-58 at Romano Gymnasium.

Sophomore guard Caleb Siwek led the Bulldogs with 21 points in 26 minutes, shooting 8 of 10 from the field and sparking the second-half surge that turned a 12-point halftime edge into a comfortable margin.

Siwek scored the bulk of his points shortly after intermission, helping UMD stretch a 42-30 lead to 25 before he checked out for the night with 11:20 remaining.

UMD used 14 players and shot 53 percent overall, getting 14 points from Nick Katona and 10 from Jaden Morgan as part of a balanced rotation.

St. Scholastica, which also ran 15 players through the lineup, was paced by Davion Butler’s 14 points and Conner Barney’s 10.

The Bulldogs return to action Friday when they open the American Family Insurance Classic against No. 13 Michigan Tech. St. Scholastica travels to Wheaton (Ill.) on Friday.
