DULUTH — A new Holiday Market featuring regional artists, craftspeople, food producers and small businesses will open Nov. 19 at the Holiday Center in downtown Duluth, offering shoppers an opportunity to purchase locally made gifts throughout the holiday season.
The market, presented in partnership with Lake Superior Magazine and Downtown Duluth, will be held at Center Court in the Holiday Center, 207 W. Superior St., from 3 to 6 p.m. Thursdays and 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturdays through Dec. 19.
The five-week event will feature a rotating selection of vendors offering handcrafted merchandise, original artwork, specialty foods, home decor, seasonal products and other gifts.
Organizers said the market is designed to support regional entrepreneurs, attract shoppers downtown and encourage spending at locally owned businesses during one of the busiest retail periods of the year.
The Holiday Center, located in the heart of downtown Duluth, provides an indoor setting for the market, bringing together independent businesses and regional producers in a centralized shopping destination.
Brianna Gunderson, general manager of Holiday Inn & Suites Duluth Downtown, said the event also provides an opportunity to showcase the Northland's growing community of small-business owners and creative entrepreneurs.
“Small businesses, artists, and makers help define the character of our community,” Gunderson said. “The Holiday Market brings those entrepreneurs together in one place, making it easier for residents and visitors to shop local, support the Northland economy, and discover the incredible talent that exists throughout our region.”
Lake Superior Magazine, which has long featured the region's people, communities and businesses, is helping promote the market as part of its continuing emphasis on regional culture and commerce.
“For decades, Lake Superior Magazine has shared the stories of the people, businesses, and communities that make this region extraordinary. The Holiday Market is an extension of that mission, providing an opportunity to celebrate local creativity, support small businesses, and strengthen the connections that make our community thrive,” said Linda Nervick, publisher of Lake Superior Magazine.
Applications are being accepted from vendors interested in participating. Additional information and application materials are available at HolidayCenterDuluth.com.
Shoppers will receive one hour of free parking in the Holiday Inn Ramp.
The market will continue through Saturday, Dec. 19, providing downtown Duluth with another seasonal shopping attraction while giving regional small businesses an opportunity to reach customers during the holiday season.
