Duluth Denfeld football coach Erik Lofald on the mighty 2024 Hunters: "We are looking forward to the upcoming season. On the offensive side of the ball we return (senior running back) Taye Manns, who will look to be one of top weapons in not only the area but the state. He will run behind a very experienced and talented offensive line that will look to be the best in the area as well.

On defense, we will be led by Rajon Gamble on the defensive line, Tyler Brannan at linebacker and Cole Abernethy in the secondary. It will be all hands on deck this year to replace last year’s seniors, but we do have a strong group of underclassmen who look to play big roles on both sides of the ball including Chris Bridges, Lee Brooks, Deon Bergner, Tai Manns, Jak King and Keelijah Thomas.

We play in one of the most competitive districts in the state and really don’t get a week 'off'. North Branch is the team to beat until someone proves they can do it and we would love to avenge our playoff loss to Hermantown last year."

Something significant is being examined, something consequential has gone wrong inside the process, and the people most familiar with that process decided they could not continue as if nothing had changed. In federal law enforcement, that is as close to an alarm bell as it gets.
