St. Louis County Auditor provides payment option reminder as property tax payment deadline near

With the May 15 deadline nearing for property owners to pay their property taxes for the first half of the year, the St. Louis County Auditor's Office is reminding people of the variety of ways they can pay, including a no-fee online option.

Property owners can pay online for free at stlouiscountymn.gov/propertytaxes by selecting the eCheck/Bank Account Payment method. Other online payment options are available but will include a fee, including using a credit or debit card, PayPal, Venmo, Google Pay and Apple Pay.

Checks can be mailed to the St. Louis County Auditor's Office, 100 N. 5th Ave. W., Room 214,
Duluth, MN 55802-1293. Mail must be postmarked by May 15 to avoid a late fee. Payments also can be dropped off in person at any of the Auditor's Offices at the Courthouse in Duluth, Auditor's Service Center at the Miller Hill Mall, or the Government Services Center in Virginia. Drop boxes are available at these three locations for after hour payments or for anyone not wishing to come inside the building.

Payment by phone is currently not available.

Information on all of these payment options, as well as links to access programs that may lower a property owner's taxes can be found online at stlouiscountymn.gov/propertytaxes. People with questions also can call the St. Louis County Auditor's Office at 218-726-2383, extension 2.
