AF1 continues rapid digital growth

Arena Football One says it is seeing major growth in digital engagement during the 2026 season, fueled by viral highlights, expanded streaming audiences and exposure on ESPN’s “SportsCenter.”

The league announced Tuesday that a Week 4 game-winning play by the Kentucky Barrels generated 5.6 million views after being featured on “SportsCenter,” making it the most-watched individual clip in AF1 history.

Another viral moment came during Week 1, when a hard hit by the Albany Firebirds drew 4.5 million views across social media platforms, helping spark an early-season increase in league followers.

AF1 officials reported a 686.65% increase in YouTube watch time compared with the same period in 2025, reflecting stronger interest in full-game broadcasts and long-form content.

The league also said Facebook and Instagram interactions and views have doubled year-over-year, while AF1’s YouTube audience has grown more than 5,500% since the start of 2026.

“We are seeing a fundamental shift in how people consume arena football,” AF1 vice president of marketing and communications Jared DeGroff said in a statement. “When a play hits SportsCenter and your YouTube watch time skyrockets by over 600%, it tells you that the brand is officially scaling.”

AF1 has emphasized short-form highlights and digital distribution as part of its marketing strategy during the 2026 season.

This week’s schedule includes Oceanside at Nashville on Saturday in the league’s “VICE Game of the Week” on VICE TV. Albany plays at Michigan and Washington visits Oregon later Saturday, with Beaumont traveling to Kentucky on Sunday.

AF1 describes itself as a professional arena football league focused on high-scoring games, fan accessibility and digital-first broadcasting.
