Bulldogs' Hunter Anderson wins NCHC rookie award

Anderson is the first UMD player to earn Rookie of the Week honors this season and the ninth Bulldogs player to receive a weekly conference award in 2025-26.

Freshman forward Hunter Anderson of the University of Minnesota Duluth men’s hockey team was named the National Collegiate Hockey Conference Rookie of the Week on Tuesday after a four-point performance against Miami University (OH) over the weekend.

The Manhattan Beach, California, native recorded two goals and two assists in his first collegiate series, posting back-to-back multi-point games. Anderson scored a power-play goal in each contest, including the game-winner Saturday night, and finished the weekend with four shots on goal.

Anderson is the first UMD player to earn Rookie of the Week honors this season and the ninth Bulldogs player to receive a weekly conference award in 2025-26.

UMD will close the regular season at home this weekend against Colorado College. The Friday-Saturday series begins at 7:07 p.m. Friday at AMSOIL Arena.
