Chloe Johnson of Hermantown has been named a finalist for the 2025 USA Women’s U16 National Team following three days of trials in Colorado Springs.

The 22 finalists, selected from 52 trials invitees, will vie for one of 12 spots on the U16 National Team, which will compete at the 2025 FIBA U16 Women’s AmeriCup from June 16-22 in Irapuato, Mexico. Trials will continue Sunday, and the final roster is expected to be announced at a later date.
Finalists were selected by the USA Basketball Women’s Developmental National Team Committee and represent the graduating classes of 2026, 2027 and 2028. Athletes eligible for this team must be U.S. citizens, born on or after January 1, 2009.
The other finalists are Jazman Bailey, Caroline Bradley, Celsy Colombo, Amel Cook, Harper Dunn, Kayla Eberz, Reece Gilpatrick, Tatianna Griffin, Jhaliana Guy, Jordyn Haywood, Maliya Hunter, Olivia Jones, Eve Long, Ashley MacCalla, Madeline Mignery, Micah Ojo, Ella Peper, Morghan Reckley, Arianna Robinson, Nation Williams and Ivanna Wilson Manyacka.
The finalists include a mixture of newcomers and players with USA Basketball experience with Bailey, Bradley, Cook, Dunn, Griffin, Guy, Haywood, Jones, Long, MacCalla, Ojo, Peper, Reckley, Robinson, Williams and Wilson Manyacka attending previous Junior National Team minicamps.
Wilson Manyacka won a gold medal at the 2024 FIBA U17 Women’s World Cup in Mexico, while Long, MacCalla and Williams competed in trials for that team.
Colombo, Eberz, Gilpatrick, Hunter, Johnson and Mignery are participating with USA Basketball for the first time this week.
Steve Gomez (Lubbock Christian Academy, TX) will serve as the USA’s head coach alongside assistants Brittanny Johnson (Evanston Township High School, IL) and Krystle Johnson (Hoover High School, AL).
The 2025 FIBA U16 Women’s AmeriCup features eight teams from the FIBA Americas zone with the top four teams advancing to the 2026 FIBA U17 Women’s World Cup in Czech Republic. The U.S. drew Group A with Argentina, Puerto Rico and Venezuela.
USA Basketball opens against Venezuela on Monday, June 16 followed by a tilt with Puerto Rico on Tuesday, June 17. Group play concludes vs. Argentina at Wednesday, June 18. All three games will tip off at 5 p.m. ET/3 p.m. local.
The Americans are 42-1 all-time at the competition, having won four straight gold medals.
