Next Week in Denfeld Sports: Hunters Keep Summer Momentum Rolling

DULUTH — Denfeld High School's summer athletic calendar remains packed next week as football, volleyball, basketball, weight training and community programming headline another busy stretch for Hunters athletes.

Monday begins with volleyball practice from 7-9 a.m. in Gym No. 3 while the school's weight training program operates from 7 a.m.-1 p.m. Football players will be on the field at Walt Hunting Stadium from 8-11 a.m. for summer practice before DASH summer programming takes over the main gym from 12:30-3:30 p.m. and Marv Heikkinen Field from 1:40-3:30 p.m. The day concludes with the DRSL Summer League, scheduled from 5:30-10 p.m. at Marv Heikkinen Field.

Tuesday offers one of the week's busiest schedules. Staff basketball tips off the morning from 6:30-8 a.m., followed by volleyball practice from 7-9 a.m. and weight training from 7 a.m.-1 p.m. Football practice continues from 8-11 a.m. at Walt Hunting Stadium, while the girls basketball summer league is scheduled from 9 a.m.-1:30 p.m. in the main gym. The DNA Robotics team will hold meetings from 9:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. in the Fab Lab, dance team practice runs from 10 a.m.-noon in the fitness room, and boys basketball practices from 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. in Gym No. 3. DASH programming returns to both the turf and main gym during the afternoon before another evening of DRSL Summer League play from 5:15-10:15 p.m.

Wednesday shifts its focus to community activities as DASH programming continues from 12:30-3:30 p.m. in both the main gym and on Marv Heikkinen Field. Summer filming is scheduled in the cafeteria and commons from 2-3 p.m., while Walt Hunting Stadium hosts Duluth FC in a soccer match beginning at 7 p.m., with stadium activities running from 5-9:30 p.m.

Thursday wraps up the week's scheduled activities with DASH programming once again occupying the main gym and turf from 12:30-3:30 p.m. Summer filming continues from 2-3 p.m. in the cafeteria and commons, while the DRSL Summer League returns to Marv Heikkinen Field from 5:15-10:15 p.m.

The Hunters continue to make full use of the summer months, combining sport-specific instruction, strength development, competitive opportunities and community programming as student-athletes prepare for the start of the 2026-27 school year. Football, volleyball and basketball programs remain in offseason development mode, while Denfeld's facilities continue serving as a hub for youth athletics and community events throughout the week.
