Lake Superior College has appointed Dr. Lisa Schlotterhausen as interim vice president for academic and student affairs. She began the role Wednesday.
Schlotterhausen succeeds Dr. Linda Kingston, who became the school’s president July 1. In her new position, Schlotterhausen will oversee academic affairs, student affairs and customized training and continuing education.
“Dr. Lisa Schlotterhausen brings a depth of experience and understanding of our college’s mission and a dedication to student success,” Kingston said in a statement. “We are grateful for her willingness to lead during this transitional period and look forward to the steady guidance she will provide.”
Schlotterhausen previously served as vice president of academic and student services at Lamar Community College in Colorado, where she directed faculty and staff recruitment, development and evaluation. She also has held leadership roles at several Minnesota community colleges, including Riverland, Century and North Hennepin, with responsibilities ranging from faculty oversight to institutional effectiveness and accreditation compliance.
At North Hennepin Community College, she was one of the school’s first Ally/Safe Space trainers and contributed to initiatives aimed at closing achievement gaps.
“I’m thrilled to be joining the team at Lake Superior College and eager to collaborate with all employees and the community in support of the college’s mission,” Schlotterhausen said. “I look forward to contributing to the dynamic and inspiring culture at LSC that empowers students and strengthens our community.”
Outside of higher education, Schlotterhausen has been active in community and economic development, serving as a district governor for Lions Clubs International and working with local governments on grants and infrastructure projects.
Lake Superior College is a two-year community and technical college in Duluth, offering more than 90 programs. It is part of the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities system.
