I-35 ramp closures at Lake Avenue in Duluth extended

Table of Contents

The Minnesota Department of Transportation has extended the closures of I-35 as additional concrete work needs to occur before ramps can be reopened. The extent of the work needed was greater than originally planned and is taking longer than expected. Crews continue to work in the area, and lanes will be reopened as soon as possible.

MnDOT currently expects ramps to reopen by Oct. 11.

The following ramps to and from I-35 remain closed:

. I-35 northbound off-ramp to Lake Avenue bridge

. I-35 southbound off-ramp to Lake Avenue bridge

. I-35 southbound on-ramp from Lake Avenue bridge

. I-35 northbound on-ramp from Lake Avenue bridge

. I-35 northbound on-ramp from Michigan Street

The ramps will reopen as soon as possible, and detour signage will be posted. Lanes will continue to be closed on I-35 northbound and southbound between 5th Avenue West and 13th Avenue East (north termini of tunnels).

This project is part of a two-year project to repair concrete pavement and bridges in the Duluth section of I-35.

Howie: George Thorogood still bad to the bone

Thorogood isn’t one of those legacy acts coasting on streaming royalties and casino circuits. He’s a lifer — one of the last truly American showmen still pounding the boards the old-fashioned way: loud, sweaty, and swinging like rock & roll still matters.

This isn’t science fiction; it’s how rural medicine is already evolving. Duluth could simply be the first to turn it into curriculum — a digital rural residency, training doctors to serve wider geographies with smarter tools.
