Hermantown used a balanced scoring attack to defeat Proctor 4-0 in a girls soccer match Thursday night.

The Hawks jumped out early with three first-half goals. Senior forward Brooke Wiese converted a penalty kick to open the scoring, and Claire Niksich followed by finishing a setup from Mya Gunderson. Bryden Giesen pushed the margin to 3-0 before halftime on an assist from Vienna Kolenda.

Niksich struck again midway through the second half, netting her second goal of the game off a pass from Kaitlyn Glanville to cap the scoring.

Hermantown goalkeeper Lucy Critchley stopped two shots to preserve the shutout. Proctor’s Peyton Walters kept the score from climbing higher with 13 saves.

Hermantown blanked Proctor 3-0 in a Lake Superior Conference boys soccer match Thursday afternoon at Centricity Stadium in Hermantown.

Hunter Nelson opened the scoring for the Hawks in the 22nd minute of the first half, assisted by Brennan Malmstrom.

In the second half, Quinn Raukar netted a goal in the 58th minute with help from Keegan Bradley, and Malmstrom added an insurance tally in the 65th minute on a pass from Raukar.

Goalkeeper Ethan Aysta recorded 11 saves for Hermantown. Proctor’s Kurtis Maher stopped 10 shots.

Hermantown placed three runners in the top seven to win the Rock Ridge Cross Country Invitational on Wednesday at Virginia Golf Course.

The Hawks edged Hibbing 49-51 in the team standings.

Hermantown's Ferrah LaLone, a junior, finished fourth, with eighth-grader Zoey Lucarelli fifth.

Duluth Marshall and Hermantown battled to a 2-2 draw Tuesday night in a girls high school soccer match.

Lucia Lozano put the Hilltoppers ahead in the first half, finishing a setup from Heidi Weis. Weis later added a goal of her own, converting a second-half penalty kick.

Hermantown rallied in the second half behind unassisted goals from Brooke Wiese, who buried a penalty kick, and Mya Gunderson.

Marshall goalkeeper Emma Johnson kept the game even with 11 saves. Hermantown split time in net between Cambriia Thomas, who made one stop, and Lucy Critchley, who added two.

Hermantown edged host Esko 3-2 in a nonconference volleyball match Tuesday night. Lilah Conley led the Hawks with 12 kills and 40 digs. Anna Bergerson finished with 19 assists, and Kylee Stocke added 13. Evie Nelson contributed nine kills.
