Fryberger attorneys earn Super Lawyers, Rising Star honors

DULUTH — Four attorneys at Fryberger, Buchanan, Smith & Frederick, P.A. have been recognized by Super Lawyers for 2025, the firm announced Monday.

Stephanie A. Ball, Robert R. Kanuit and Paul B. Kilgore were named Minnesota Super Lawyers, a distinction given to only 5% of attorneys in the state each year. Daniel F. Burns was selected as a Minnesota Rising Star, an honor reserved for just 2.5% of up-and-coming lawyers.

“This honor reflects their outstanding legal expertise, unwavering dedication, and the exceptional service they provide to our clients,” said Mia Thibodeau, president of Fryberger.

Ball, a graduate of the University of Minnesota Law School, focuses on civil litigation, including personal injury, wrongful death, products liability, construction, insurance and commercial disputes. She is certified as a civil litigation specialist by the Minnesota State Bar Association and is a past president of the Minnesota Chapter of the American Board of Trial Advocates. She previously was named an Attorney of the Year by Minnesota Lawyer.

Kanit, who graduated cum laude from William Mitchell College of Law, practices in real estate, banking, bankruptcy, business law, estate planning and project development.

Kilgore, who earned his law degree cum laude from the University of Minnesota, concentrates on real estate acquisitions, finance, litigation and mining law. He is certified as a real property law specialist and was elected to the American College of Real Estate Lawyers in 2012.

Burns, the firm’s Rising Star, graduated magna cum laude from the Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C., in 2011 and received his law degree from the University of St. Thomas School of Law in Minnesota in 2016. He practices in public finance law.

Fryberger has 27 attorneys and offers services in business, real estate, employment, litigation, estate planning, finance and personal injury. The firm’s lawyers are licensed in Minnesota, Wisconsin, North Dakota, Arizona and Michigan.
