Lake Superior College to host free holiday choir concert

The Lake Superior College Choir will conduct a free Holiday Showcase concert on Thursday, December 12 at 7 p.m. in the Atrium of the LSC Main Campus.

The 16-voice LSC choir will be joined by members of the Fond du Lac Tribal and Community College choir, along with special guest mezzo-soprano Georgia Jacobson.

Jacobson, a native of Duluth, took first Place in the National Opera Association’s 2020 Carolyn Bailey and Dominick Argento Vocal Competition and has won multiple awards in the Metropolitan Opera’s Eric and Dominque Laffont Competition.

Some of her work includes performing with the Los Angeles Philharmonic at the Hollywood Bowl in Chris Thile’s Attention! Jacobson also covered the role Virginia Woolf in the world premiere/concert version of The Hours by composer Kevin Puts and librettist Gregory Pierce at The Philadelphia Orchestra and much more.

Individual LSC students taking private music lessons will showcase their talents they’ve developed over the semester.

The choir will perform nine songs including Silver Bells and A Holly Jolly Christmas. Audience sing-alongs of Silent Night and Jingle Bells will also be part of the hour-plus long free concert. – LSC press release
